Dialogue prompt (Story)

DIALOGUE PROMPT: “Wanting a Mcdonalds is not a medical emergency.”

Sydney and Charlie were staying over at Leo’s house. The trio had decided to spend a weekend together, spending nights at Leo’s place and days outside. Leo lay on a couch, reading a book, when Charlie and Sydney charged in, yelling,

“LEO!! IT’S A MEDICAL EMERGENCY!”

Leo was glad his dad was on a business trip, or he’d be in trouble for his friends yelling in the house. He sat up, and looked at his friends. both were just fine.

“What’s a medical emergency?” he asked, confused. He’d trained as a medic at camp, but there was nothing wrong with either of his friends.

“We need Mcdonalds, Leo!” Charlie burst out.

“Lots of Mcdonalds, Leo!” Sydney agreed.

Leo rolled his eyes, “Wanting Mcdonalds is not a medical emergency.”

His friends pouted and gave him puppy eyes, Sydney even made her baby seal face, which she saved for special occasions.

“Okay, Mcdonalds. Because it’s a medical emergency,” Leo laughed, reaching for his phone. Charlie whooped and high-fived Sydney. The two of them could be absolutely adorable at times, even if they were just a year younger than him.

“What do you guys want?” He asked, and the pair of 13-year olds started naming things off the menu.

At around midnight, their delivery came. Leo paid the guy with some cash his dad had told him was for ‘Emergencies.’ Leo, Charlie, and Sydney set up their midnight feast on the coffee table, and Leo put on a movie.

He watched his friends, smiling at how immature they looked, stuffing burgers and french fries in their mouths. It was fun, and he hoped they’d always do things like this together, maybe when Leo turned 16 and got his driver's license, they could go to the beach.

For now, though, he just wanted to chill with the two most amazing people he knew.
